Perfect for studying the Bible

This Bible is the perfect way to study God's word. You have three different "routes" to choose from depending on how in depth you want to go. Perfect for the new believer and those more "seasoned" in their faith. Right now I am reading through the "flyover route", hitting the "main" stories of the Bible, and reading through the entire Bible in just over 50 days. There are also awesome insights, spectacular charts and images, and even a "guide" showing how Jesus can be found throughout the ENTIRE Bible. I can't say enough good things about this Bible. Get one, you won't be sorry!

Great for Historical Overview, Less for Theology

I decided to check out this Bible because the three lines on the cover reminded me of those alternate ending novels that never quite caught on–my interest was peaked.

This is how it works: The Bible appears in its full, conventionally ordered, New Living Translation text. It could easily be read front to back or skipped through, but there are also three clearly marked “paths,” each with their own distinct icon: the flyover route (major events only), the direct route (a cohesive summary of the full Bible), and the scenic route (comprehensive, with many scenic stops).

I decided to try out the scenic route because I am already familiar with the whole of Scripture and was curious to discover the scenic views. I was overall impressed. I enjoyed how the route took me back and forth to allow for the reading to be near chronological (“near” because some books are harder to date), and to bring cohesiveness between passages (e.g., some of David’s psalms are interspersed throughout the reading of his kingship, bringing more depth to their context).

This is an attractive, modern looking Bible. It is well organized, and I particularly love the itinerary overview chart of all three routes in the back, the multiple “side trips” of topical themes and occasions, and the well-placed maps and charts throughout.

The frequent commentary (“Observation Points” and “Exploration Points”) was mostly helpful and interesting, but this is also where the Bible falls short for me. I appreciated the historical, cultural, and “factoid” emphases, but did not like (or agree with) the theological interpretations brought into some of them. I would rather the blurbs had only stuck with non-controversial discussion, especially since they are so short that there is no room for proper exegesis or bibliographical information representing major viewpoints.

For example, a couple of the blubs advocate replacement theology (the perspective that the church has replaced Israel); and while this is a fairly common understanding within the church, I do not personally feel comfortable perpetuating what I consider to be harmful theology. A couple places also put an unnecessary symbolic spin on Scripture. And the Bible also removes the possibility of a young earth perspective of Creation. Areas like these with various interpretations should simply be avoided since there are so many other interesting discussions that are agreed upon across denominational boundaries.

Since the target audience for this Bible seems to be those who are less familiar with the Bible as a whole, I would not want those who do not know better to pick up theology without a proper understanding of the reasons and implications behind each perspective.

As a whole, though, the historical pattern and overview of Scripture is pretty good, and the routes are beneficial for this kind of study. The Bible presents well, is easy to use, and is a lot of fun to read and reflect on.

Flashing its trinkets, Wayfinding Bible (NLT) fits my nincompoop-brain perfectly

The Wayfinding (NLT†) Bible holds my interest by flashing its colorful trinkets before my eyes.

I bought the paper hardcover which I love. I bought the Kindle version too, but found it impossible to maneuver. This bible has been sitting around unused for two years. I just started reading it. It is perfect suited for a newbie like me. I tried to read the New King James Study Version, and got massively bogged down (too hard), where I tried to read Jeremiah. Jeremiah is an arduous (long) book, particularly for one as brand spanking new as me. I gave up. Then I picked up the Wayfinding Bible (I keep calling it the Warfaring Bible) and boy, what a difference -- nincompoops like me need things dumbed-down a quantum step. Even NRSV is too "thick" for me.

I have several kids' bibles (including full comic book bibles) but they are a tad TOO dumbed down. I just invested in an NIV Rainbow Study Bible, Jacketed Hardcover Indexed (which I have not yet received), so between the Wayfinding and NIV bibles, I ought to be set. I will use the "advanced" NKJV and NRSV bibles when I have the gist of all the bibles' chapters. Right now,__*I*__*K*N*O*W*__*N*O*T*H*I*N*G*!

I highly recommend this book. Of course, I am somewhat biased in my opinion of this memoir since Michael Bliss’ memories are similar to many of mine! I also grew up in Kingsville, Ontario in the 1950’s and 60’s and knew Michael as an older student at my school. His descriptions of the people, town and environs are so like my memories, I was enthralled reading about them. I have also read Michael Bliss’ books on The Discovery of Insulin and Banting, both informative and very readable.

All I can do is bury my face in my knees and try to muffle my crying as my tears slowly soak through my jeans.

I’m not supposed to be here. I’d had it all planned out and this - this room, this unfamiliar city, this bleak future - was not a part of it. It’s hard to believe that less than four months ago everything had been so perfect - my life had been right on track and the future had been more than bright, it had been positively gleaming. But I should have known that any light that shines too brightly is bound to burn out sooner or later, and mine was abruptly extinguished on a Wednesday afternoon in late June. It was results day, and for most of my fellow final-year uni students, it was the day that either makes us or breaks us. I just didn’t anticipate that it would break me in such a way.

This is is getting off kind of slow, but I imagine that the anticipation will eventually build up and be just as great. She has lost a lot and is being brave going out on her and has been taken in by friends. The new boss however, well... let's see what he thinks of her.

Overall, a wonderful book. A detailed list of items needed to make the cookies, with recipes, lots of pictures, 11 practice worksheets. And lots of ideas that I never thought to do with cookies. I see Christmas gifts and many wonderful creations from this one book. The book also includes directions or templates for gingerbread houses, bowls, boxes and gingerbread ceramic. A great resource for the beginner cookier and a way to spark some creativity in the experienced cookier.

Amazing booklet.
Step by step instructions from equipment, recipes to decorating. And a bit of history of the Hungarian gingerbread.
Lots of practice sheets at the back of the book for decorating patterns.
Recommend it for the whole family for ideas and for hours of fun.

I'm a complete beginner and here are a few biscuits and candle holders I've made for Christmas.

This is an excellent book and I haven't even finished it yet. This is the 7th book in a series of 9. Dr Cole is right on time with the information included in all of his books. There is not a day goes by that I dont reflect back on something I learned in these books. The books are worth ten times what you pay for them based on the data received from them. I can only wish I found this curriculum earlier, it could have saved my marriage.
