Memory NoteCARDS are better

I considered giving memory noteBOOK series only 1 stars because I like the memory noteCARD series so much better, but the noteBOOKs really are OK, but *just* OK. They are black and white "coloring book" images of varying degrees of usefulness. I find two types of the images useful -- those with acronym style mnemonics and those that are a big picture summary that includes the causes, signs/symptoms, complications and treatment/care for a particular disease disorder.
I strongly prefer the memory noteCARD format because (1) they are in color and (2) there is additional info and/or explanatory info on the back of each card image. The images are very similar/same as those in the noteBOOK series (in fact, I haven't found a single noteBOOK image that wasn't also included in my friend's noteCARDs and her noteCARDS seem to have images that the noteBOOKS do not have (plus there's extra info on the cards!). FYI - the notecards are NOT in a format that facilitates self-quizzing (as you might do when making flashcards).
Regardless of the format memory noteCARD or memory noteBOOK, the images are somewhat learning-style specific, and often lack large amounts of info that one also needs to learn about the topic depicted, so you may find them to be that helpful. Many (probably all) of the mnemonics can be found (for free!) on popular nursing discussion boards. If you're thinking of purchasing, you would be well-served to check them out in-person at a local bookstore then purchase whichever series you prefer from Amazon.

Good for visual learners

I have 2 of these books and my teachers in nursing school used to pass them out as handouts to go along with the topics we were covering. I am a visual learner and these really help me remember things better. I will always think of the picture of the man with peritonitis, with a "rigid, board-like abdomen" and the basketball bouncing off of his stomach. The pictures really do help things "stick" better for me because I can recall the image in my head. My only complaint about these books is that there are typos. There is incorrect information and typos in them which is frustrating. I wish I could upload a picture as an example...
