About the Author
Elder Bruce C. Hafen, a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy since 1996, has served in several Area Presidencies. He has been president of Ricks College, dean of the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, and Director of Research and Evaluation in the Correlation Department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is a widely recognized scholar on family law and constitutional law. Elder Hafen and his wife, Marie, are the parents of seven children.

The way to happiness

Few people ever discover the power that the Atonement of Jesus Christ offers.
Most lead lives of "quiet desperation"; sorrows and regret lie just beneath the surface of their lives, and they feel trapped by their sense of unworthiness.
The words of this book open the door to understanding that the path to hope lays in calling upon the Lord, believing that He can and will heal you; if you will allow yourself to come to Him with a Broken Heart.

In his introduction, Hafen writes: "The Savior's victory can compensate not only for our sins, but also for our inadequacies; not only for our deliberate mistakes, but also for sins committed in ignorance, our errors of judgment, and our unavoidable imperfections. Our ultimate aspiration is more than being forgiven of sin - we seek to become holy, endowed with Christlike attributes, at one with him, like him. Divine grace is the only source that can finally fulfill that aspiration, after all we can do."
This is the second volume of a sacred trilogy.

Thought-provoking and inspiring

Hafen does a wonderful job with the subject -- explaining that the Atonement of Christ is not simply about forgiving sin, but also about healing and self-development. I thought the book's treatment of the topic of grace (often misunderstood and underappreciated in LDS culture) was extremely thoughtful, clear, and doctrinally sound. Overall, a short, inspiring, and remarkable read on a subject that could not be more important or timely in the lives of all believers.
